Hello and Welcome! I’m Maryám and I'm so excited to be a part of the Altenew + The Daily Marker Color Therapy Blog Hop. If you are coming from TaeEun Yoo, you are in the right place! :) Your next stop in the hop is the lovely Tania Ahmed. If you get lost, you can always go back to the Altenew Card Blog or check out the entire blog hop list at the end of this post. There is also a fun giveaway, so be sure to read all the way to the end!
I'm especially excited about today's hop because Altenew is collaborating with the amazing Kathy Racoosin from The Daily Marker to inspire crafters to find joy through coloring. Kathy is celebrating her 14th 30 Day Coloring Challenge until the end of November 2019. To participate in the 30 Day Coloring Challenge you basically need to color something and share it on social media using the hashtag #thedailymarker30day. The idea behind this challenge is to find some “Me Time” and enjoy the benefits that coloring will give. Fun, right?!
I always have had so much fun coloring! Since I was very little, my mom taught me how to color images (probably from a coloring book) and I remember that I could spend an entire afternoon coloring. One day I'll share some photos of my drawing and coloring pieces from back then, I promise! Once I entered high school though, my free time was reduced so I kind of stopped coloring. Fortunately, that changed this year after joining the Altenew Scrapbook Team. I just couldn't resist using their coloring mediums, so I made some time from my busy schedule to practice my coloring skills again.
Some of my favorite coloring projects from this year using Altenew stamps and dies, as well as different products from their watercolors line. |
Now that I'm getting back to this coloring world, I find it so relaxing and also therapeutic, and even more when I color flowers! Also, in case you didn't know, some of the benefits of coloring are- reduce stress and anxiety, improves motor skills and vision, among so many other things.
For today's project, I created an A2 size card inspired by a card that the amazing Debby Hughes created last year. If you are not following her, you should totally do. She has lots of videos on her YouTube Channel in which she shares different watercoloring techniques.
For my card, I used the flowers and leaves from the several floral sets from Altenew- Beautiful Day, Garden Treasure and Poppy Garden Stamp Set to create a scene that I colored later with the Altenew Watercolor 36 Pan Set.
To color the flowers, I started with the lightest colors first and then continued to add darker paint layers. This process took me a few hours, but to be my first No-line coloring card I think it looks good. For the sentiment, I chose "You are amazing" from the Floral Sprig 4 x 6 Stamp Set, and to embellish it a little bit, I added some sequins and jewels.
